I spent a wonderful full day on a one to one with Julian in the Loire Valley near Tours. Julian knows the area extremely well and does all the driving so one just relaxes until he brings you to some very famous sites and hidden gems. This is not a whistle stop tour where one gets out, snaps a shot and onto the next. This is about taking your time, studying the scene and the light. Julian will offer help and advice from his own extensive experience . He encourages one to experiment and think about the subject before just snapping away. This is not a day for snappers, this is for people who want to take photographs, good photographs. Julian is very knowledgeable and easy going. He is a working professional photographer who travels extensively, (not so much in the last year for obvious reasons) so getting a one to one is not always that easy, but worth the effort. I feel I gained a lot. Who would profit from a one to one? Anyone from beginner to experienced who wants to improve and learn. Again just to emphasise Julian earns his living as a working photographer who makes YouTube videos when he has time, not visa versa. Highly recommended.
From start to finish you were committed to ensuring that I was well looked after, visited the best locations – constantly checking the forecast to make the most of the weather conditions – and received support and tuition carefully matched to the level of my expertise.
You provided an excellent extended workshop and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
All the best
PS I meant to say – I also got some great images.
Julian was able to tailor the workshop to my own needs and I’d thoroughly recommend going out with him to learn about landscape photography.
Because of the time he gave me, I now see the landscape in a different way and I’m noticing things a lot more.
I keep looking at my photos as before the course I didn’t think that I was capable of getting the photos that I had taken.
I recommend Julian’s training without hesitation.
As requested, Julian created a one-day training session tailored to my exact needs focusing on my particular interests; lakes and rivers.
From pre-day exercises and reading to finding suitable locations, I was impressed and my skills were progressing before the session has even started. The day included a dawn shoot, detailed training on finding and then how to maximise a chosen location to specific input on the science of photography as well as an introduction to Lightroom.
These skills were refined at two further locations later in the day. The one-day course and subsequent follow-up support has delivered what would have taken me many months to learn and has rapidly accelerated my skills and consequently enjoyment of photography.
Hi Julian, sorry that this has taken me forever to get around to doing.
We did a one day photo course with Julian in Western Cornwall. Despite the rainy weather, we had an excellent day and learnt a lot about photography. Both of us ended up with some excellent shots. Julian has a great deal of patience and explains things very clearly. Not only did we learn a lot about photography but also about Cornwall. Despite the fact that my family lives here, Julian took us to some wonderful secret spots. Overall, it was an inspirational experience.
I really enjoyed the day, and am going to get one of the photos of Chambord put on a canvas for my wall.
Just wanted to say a quick but heartfelt thank you for your help, advise, skill etc. I very much appreciated the effort you put into the two days.
I had an excellent day out with Julian whose explanations and patience made learning to use a DSLR a real pleasure.
For those who really wish to get the most out of their camera and photographs rather than just point and shoot, it is really worthwhile having some practical tuition.
I can heartily recommend Julian’s skill and ability to teach ….. and I am not the brightest of stars!
